Love & Hope Kazuri Bead Rosary

This unique hand-made rosary creates a bold statement by combining African Kazuri beads with the message of "Love" and "Hope" painted on them, with the highly luminous "Wonder" beads, and a center piece with the image of beloved Mother Mary. The crucifix is made of pewter and has an enameled black background.

The 6 large pater beads are called Kazuri beads. They are made in Kenya, Africa by women who work for the beading cooperative started in 1975 by Lady Susan Wood, with the mission of providing work for a few women to help them support their families and better their lives. The beads are shaped, polished, fired, painted and re-fired. The result is "kazuri' which in Swahili means "small and beautiful". Today Kazuri Ltd. employs nearly 400 women who get health insurance, school supplies for their children and make nearly three to five times the national average in wages. Most of these women also support 10 to 20 extended family members. "Kazuri" in Swahili means "small and beautiful."

The rosary is strung on a high quality, 49 strand, nylon coated beading wire.
